I just have to share with you a great event with some of Minnesota’s most amazing women. Recently I participated in the Women Presidents Organization (WPO) of Minnesota’s Second Annual Expo and Dinner. It was an evening where the members of all four chapters presented their company profiles and history. It was inspiring to hear how much almost everyone credited their company’s success to cooperation and connections with each other. For those of you who are not familiar with the WPO, these are women who run businesses of $1,000,000 or more. Each chapter has no more than 20 members. For Minnesota to have four chapters is a testament to our women business leadership. The only other states that have four or more chapters are New York and California.
Our company provides publicity for the WPO, and I have been the lucky publicist to work on this project. We invited select members of the media to attend this event, so that they could learn more about these businesses and what these business leaders see as the trends in the coming year. One member of the media confided in me that it was like mining for gold and finding diamonds. At Media Relations we are always looking for ways to introduce our clients to the media. I predict there will be several stories in the coming year as a result of this evening.
P.S. It was also rewarding as a publicist to hear the far-reaching impact of our placements. One WPO member who was recently featured in the Star Tribune was excited that the story generated new business, contributions and volunteers. She is looking forward to the next steps we can take for her.
