Make an emotional connection with audiences through media stories

emotional connection with audiences

Stories can create an emotional connection with audiences that simple announcements cannot. That’s one of the reasons why this Minnesota CBS news segment that I arranged for our client, ReelAbilities Minneapolis-St. Paul Disabilities Film Festival, was so affecting. This segment used a personal story and vivid images to motivate audiences to attend our client’s event.

Rather than just announce that the festival would be taking place, the news segment focused on the story behind one of the event’s films. This film, “It’s Raining, So What,” tells the story of Joe Stone, a young man who challenged himself to become the first wheelchair-using quadriplegic to complete a full Ironman triathlon.

I worked closely with the filmmaker to ensure that the TV station had striking images and clips from the movie to communicate Stone’s story. From a tragic hospital scene to triumphant shots of Stone swimming and biking, images illustrated Stone’s strength and determination.

This news segment didn’t just tell viewers that the film festival would present inspiring stories. It showed the audience exactly why these stories are so inspiring.

That’s the value of using media stories to provide publicity: Media coverage allows time to tell a story. It can use images and personal anecdotes to create an emotional reaction in the audience.

I can arrange memorable media stories about your product, as well. How can I be so sure, without ever having met you? It’s because every product serves a need. Every product has a back story. I haven’t encountered a product yet for which I haven’t been able to build a story. Sometimes people get so close to their product or service that they don’t realize how fascinating others would find it. I love helping clients discover appealing angles and sharing them with the public.

Arranging media coverage isn’t just a job to me; it’s a passion. I sincerely enjoy using my creativity to build stories for our clients. It is so rewarding to get to match clients with reporters and producers who want to publicize their work. Call me directly at 952-697-5240 or complete our contact form. Let’s talk about your product or service. Let’s get your story told.
