An overlooked marketing gem

by | Aug 25, 2017 | MarketSmart Newsletters

Here’s a big question for you: Which of the five promotional mix channels are you ignoring and why?

Is it ads? Nope, not likely.
A website? You’ve got to be kidding. Everyone has a website.
How about social media? No, of course not. Your last post may have been a month ago but let’s not bring that up.
Maybe it’s personal selling. Fat chance. No, it’s not personal selling.

So what channel is it? If you are like most companies, the promotional mix channel that is either underutilized or completely ignored is, drum roll please … are you ready for this … it’s PUBLICITY.  And more specifically, MEDIA COVERAGE.

If a promotional mix channel could talk, here’s what publicity might say:

Ignore me. I don’t care. I’m used to it anyway. It’s OK, I’m invisible.

So why is it that so many companies ignore such a powerful promotional mix channel?  There has to be a reason.

Is it because their products are boring and no one really wants to hear about them anyway?

Is it because publicity is cheap?

Is it because it’s best to keep products secret, and you know how reporters blab about everything?

Or maybe it’s because the other channels are working so well they can’t handle any more sales? All that money. Who needs the headache? Yeah, that’s probably it.

There’s really no good reason not to use publicity. It’s just that, well, most companies don’t.

Publicity is the overlooked marketing gem that hides in plain sight.  That’s too bad.

But there is a very clever way to remedy the problem.

There’s wonderful company called Media Relations Agency that sells publicity by the story, and has for 30 years. No one arranges more media coverage for companies and their products than they do.

Did I mention that Media Relations Agency prices media coverage by the story? Because if I didn’t, I should because it’s such a HUGE selling point.

If you think your product isn’t getting its fair share of ink, or any at all for that matter, you should give us a call. We have arranged tens of thousands of news stories and we can arrange them for your company and its products as well.

A product should not be a best-kept secret.

Let us put you in touch with media. Let’s tell your story.

Call our office manager Becky or fill out this form. Tell her you want to speak with an account executive about getting some media coverage for your product. She’ll know just what to do. Her number is 952-697-5269.
