Marketing partnerships provides excellent access to media coverage targeting the 50+ and seniors markets

by | Mar 15, 2011 | Advice & Tips

Are you trying to reach America’s dynamic 50+ and seniors markets? As a publicist, I deal directly with the media and see the benefits of entering into a marketing partnership with Mid-America Events & Expos, which promotes its fun 50+ events with timely news angles so that I can offer the media a complete package.

For several months, I’ve been talking to my media contacts about the Ms. Minnesota Senior Pageant, which is held in conjunction with the Spring 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo, April 19-21. Mystic Lake Casino Hotel & Casino recently came aboard as our marketing partner for the pageant. So now in all of our promotions, we say “the Ms. Minnesota Senior Pageant, brought to you in part by Mystic Lake Hotel & Casino”.

That shines the spotlight directly on our marketing partner in promotional channels that might have otherwise been unavailable to them. It also associates them in the minds of their target audience with two wonderful annual events: the Ms. Minnesota Senior Pageant that pays tribute to contestants for their achievements and volunteerism, and the Spring 50+ PrimeTime Living Expo, which is the pageant’s home.

My contacts in print, TV and radio have run several stories about the contestants and the pageant itself. They are also excited to reveal the next Ms. Senior Minnesota, as she will represent  Minnesota in the national Ms. Senior America Pageant.

I’m having great conversations with the media when I pitch this story idea!

A print reporter ran a story calling for pageant contestants, and she’s asked for regular updates which she is running in the paper. I’ve also heard back from a few different TV reporters who want to cover the pageant on location at Mystic Lake Hotel & Casino.

New marketing partners always add an exciting dimension to story angles I use when working with the media.  If you hurry, there’s still time to add your business to the Pageant stories.
