Baby Boomers in the News: Why reporters are excited about our 50+ PrimeTime Living Expos

by | May 24, 2011 | Advice & Tips

The first of 78 million baby boomers born in the wake of the Second World War begin turning 65 this year.

The media is responding to this by seeking even more story ideas that are relevant to this age group. So when I call them with story angles featuring companies participating in one of our 50+ PrimeTime Living Expos (the next one happens in July), I can almost guarantee reporters will be receptive.

Recently I worked with a Star Tribune editor who was looking for boomer stories to run in the newspaper’s new quarterly special section devoted to boomers interests.

As a publicist, I see more reporters, mid-day news shows and talk radio shows targeting this age group. I’m happy to line up the media to interview our expo marketing partners when they ask me for experts to talk with them about such subjects as: Entertainment: dating in your 60s;  health and medicine; tips for selecting best Medicare options; and prime time paradise (vacation options). One of the hottest topics concerns baby boomers’ use of new technology.

With every one of our 50+ PrimeTime Living Expos (https://www.101expos.com) come new boomer-related topics for me to discuss with my TV, radio, print and online media contacts. I don’t think this content trend will be slowing down any time soon. Thank goodness our variety of marketing partners gives me a lot of different story angles to pitch!
