Media Relations just wrapped up another year of arranging media coverage associated with the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-MN) Women Achieve! Awards Ceremony and Luncheon. We thoroughly enjoy working on this project. And once again, as we are every year, Heather Champine and I are impressed by the detailed work of Publicist Sallie Crowl.
The competition for reporters’ attention is fierce. Sallie knows exactly what she’ll need if she’s going to convince them to cover one or more of the honorees. Each year she involves herself in every detail of this project to stack the odds in her favor. That includes participating in each editorial call, identifying mediagenic angles for the honorees’ stories and providing her on-point feedback to our writing team on the press release.
Part of Sallie’s process is to ask a lot of questions. By the time she starts calling reporters to pitch story ideas, she can talk about each Women Achieve! honoree as if they are long-time friends. When she speaks with the media, it’s from her heart. It’s no surprise that Sallie has developed valuable media connections. Reporters and producers trust that she’s always going to bring them interesting stories that will resonate with their audiences.
Sallie is consistently one of our top publicists, as measured by media bookings, because she applies this same tenacity and sincerity to every project. When someone picks up the phone to talk to the media about your company or product, you want someone with Sallie’s experience, skills and genuine likeability.
That’s Sallie second from the right in the group photo, taken during this year’s Women Achieve! Ceremony and Luncheon. And below is the feature story she arranged for this year’s Woman Business Owner of the Year, Jennifer Smith.
