Four reasons to include media coverage in your marketing plan

When you sit down to plan your marketing strategy, what promotional channels do you consider? What about media coverage? I recently arranged this Mother Nature Network article for the Malaysian Palm Oil Council. It taught a massive audience about Malaysian palm oil’s advantages. Here are four reasons to include media coverage in your marketing plan.

  1. Media coverage can reach a huge audience. One media story can reach thousands of people. Or, as in this case, millions. This Mother Nature Network article made 3,286,000 impressions.
  2. Media coverage gives you time and space to tell your story. Print or digital stories can provide columns or pages of space. Radio or television stories can last minutes. With media stories, you can educate the audience about your product. You can help consumers understand why they need your product. This article described Malaysian palm oil’s nutritional benefits and differentiated it from other cooking oils.
  3. Media coverage makes your message the content. Audiences are adept at avoiding or ignoring ads, but media stories are engaging, relevant content. Media stories turn your message into news. They are what audiences tune in to see or hear. And reporters and producers are careful to make their stories appealing.
  4. Predictable pricing. Sometimes marketers hesitate to promote their products with media coverage because they are concerned about pricing. Our pricing structure is different from traditional agencies. With Pay Per Interview Publicity®, we charge per story we arrange.

Media coverage is marketing that doesn’t seem like marketing. It’s information that can help consumers. It delivers your message in a desirable format.

And we can arrange it for you, on an affordable basis. Our agency has nearly 30 years of experience helping clients use media coverage to promote their products. We call the media personally to arrange stories. We work with journalists to craft story angles that catch consumers’ attention. With Pay Per Interview Publicity®, we take the worry out of using publicity to promote products. You know what you’ll receive for your money.

I’d be happy to speak with you about how to include media coverage in your marketing plan. Give me a call at 952-697-5269 or complete our form below. We can talk about what kinds of media coverage I’ve arranged for other companies, and what publicity I could arrange for you. I love writing and pitching new story ideas.
