Integrate Your Blog with Your Facebook Page Using NetworkedBlogs

by | Jun 15, 2010 | Advice & Tips

Pushing blog content through Facebook is still an under-utilized marketing must. It’s an easy way to update people with your latest post. You will reach your entire fan base with one simple Facebook post. There are some people who just don’t have the time to worry about this. Here is an easy solution.

NetworkedBlogs is a Facebook application (I’m a PC guy, so I refuse to use “app”). It enables you to link your blog post to your Facebook page. There are many options available to customize the settings.

First thing you need to do is to set up your NetworkedBlogs account. Start by going to the NetworkedBlogs site and click on “Add your blog”. This will take you to your Facebook profile. Its user-friendly step-by-step guide will help you connect your blog in no time.

There are some great advantages to NetworkedBlogs:

1. Follow me. Follow you. You will initially be prompted to follow 10 blogs (the start of your network). Find and add blogs that are closely related to yours. Once you have done this, you can contact the administrators of these sites and ask them to follow you.

2. Helpful automatic posting on Facebook and Twitter. Automatic posting can save you time, rather than having to go through the trouble of pushing the post manually through Facebook and Twitter. Just go into the feed settings and make your selection.

Even though this is NetworkedBlogs’ “recommended setting”, I high discourage the practice if it’s at all possible. I understand that time is precious for many people, and they just don’t have the time to devote to being on Facebook. If that is the case, then by all means, have it post immediately and don’t worry about it.

However, I like to manually post my blog updates through NetworkedBlogs. If you do it this way, Facebook will allow you to add a comment about your post ahead of the link. This gives you the chance to really catch someone’s attention by writing a clever intro. You can also ask a question to start a conversation about your article.

3. Add a Widget; show your worth. You have the option of adding a NetworkedBlog widget to your blog. This visual “scoreboard” displays the number of followers of your blog. As more people follow, it shows that your content is worth reading.

4. It’s a network. This is a great opportunity to expand your potential reach. Your blog is now listed in NetworkedBlogs’ heavily searched directory. According to Tech Blips, 500 new blogs are added to NetworkedBlogs every day. Remember, when people add their blogs they must select 10 blogs to follow. They may find your blog, and start following you.

Integrating your latest information with your social network is a critical piece of your online marketing plan. Checkerboard can help you map out your Internet marketing strategy. To learn more, call (612) 798-7200.
